Highlights of the day : March Past, Inspection of Athletes, Oath taking, Declaring the Sport Meet open by Mr. Maijo Joesph, Athletic events, Aquatic events, Displays, Prize Distribution, Chief guest's address and Lowering of the School Flag.
The 99th Annual Sports Meet of Montfort.A.I.Hr.Sec.School. took place on a warm, cloudy Saturday, the 25th of july.The chief guest for this special occasion was Mr. Majio Joseph. The sports day comprised of a morning and noon session. The morning session started with the arrival of the chief guest led by the colorful school band. It was followed by a prayer song and a prayer dance. The chief guest was honored and Introduced by the Principal Rev, Bro.Varghese.K.J. Along with the chief guest, Rev.Bro.John Kallarackal Superior General, Rome and Rev, Bro.George. K.J.Provincial Superior, Yercaud Province were welcomed for the occasion. Then followed the, 'Inspection' of the three houses namely Montfort, Gabriel and Patrick. The School Pupil Leader then reported for the March Past. Next we had the Alumni March past.This was followed by a series of athletic events which were very interesting. Finally the aquatic events took place and the students dispersed for lunch break.
The afternoon session was full of fun and frolic from the minute the juniors were on the field. Their drill was fantabulous.Then came the girls drill which was another feast to the eyes. Finally we had the senior boys drill which was also scintillating. Then came the most awaited moment. The awards and prize distribution ceremony. The Chief Guest distributed the Individual Championships for Athletics and Aquatics. Montfort bagged the overall championship for aquatics and drill. Patrick house got for the March Past shield. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering. He was taken back to his childhood days and shared many of his school memories. He mainly concentrated on the fact that the students were the future India.
He stressed on a point that Montfort school provides ample opportunities to students and they must make use of it. He also thanked the school for honoring him with his unique distinction of being the chief guest. He appreciated the management, staff and students for the success of the occasion.
The Sports Day concluded with the extinguishing of the flame and lowering of the flag. A finale was presented and the National Anthem sung.
