Prize Nite

Prize day is a very important day in Montfort calendar. It is a day when children's day is celebrated. It is a day where winners of various fields are felicitated and their talents are acknowledged. It is a day of extravaganza and celebrated.Teachers took active role and display their talents through various like songing, dancing, insreumented, fancy dress etc.., It's a day of joy and happiness for children's they are the heroes of the day.

The programme was conducted on 18-11-13 by 5.30pm in the Eugene hall. All the students and teacher's gathered for the programme. The programme stared by invoking god's blessings in the form of prayer song and lighting of the kuthuvalakku.Principal,Bro.Varghese.K.J, welcomed and introduced the chief guest. The chief guest for the day was an eminent old student of Montfort.Mr.R.Prabhuram. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs.Dr.V.Rajashree. He studied at Montfort 1976 to 1983 completing his std 10. He has done his Ph.d in horticulture (Plant biotechnology) and received the best thesis award for in 1996 from Dr.A.P.J.Abdhulkalam. Through he was selected as a scientist research in 1997-98, but he never joined the Govt.service but otherwise opted to do his own business and continued the family legacy and occupation i.e. Horticulture in his 250 acres in farm land Thirupathur. When he was in Montfort he was a good academician and sports person too. His wife Dr.V.Rajashree is an asst.professor of horticulture, Tamilnadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, currently working in molecular breeding of discase resistance in vegetables. They are blessed with to say. The cultural programme started with sing by staff members followed by colourful dance item and orchestra show. That was a variety show by teachers where students were entertained on their special day.

Various competitions were conducted by departments like English, language, science, social studies, mathematics, art, dance, music, commerce and computer and the winners were appreciated and awarded with certificates. Chief guest and his wife facilitated the students. The best and selected dances by students were also displayed. Chief guest in his address appreciated the programming by students and teachers. He spoke about montfortian education where brothers and teachers render their service. He told that he was proud to be a montfortian and Montfort education helped him to be in his present successful position. He is doing service in guiding the farmers to increase their yield and intern income. Many marginal farmers are getting benefit out of his advice and guidance. So he stressed that Montfort education should lead them towards some service to society. He appreciated the brothers and teachers of his time like Mr. Francis Xavier he told he still remember some of the taught by them even today. He concluded by saying that he was proud and happy to be the chief guest for the occasion and wished the students good luck.

The programme ended with a school song.
