The 49th Tennis, Table Tennis, Football and Basketball tournament inaugural was held on the 15th of August, 2019 in the Multipurpose Hall. It was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Rev. Brother Irudayam, the Provincial Superior of Trichy Province.
The ceremony commenced with a prayer and a welcome dance by the girl students of Junior School.
The Junior students enacted a beautiful play on the topic – “Success does not depend on luck alone” which was followed by thought provoking speeches and thoughts.
The Chief Guest was invited to address the gathering. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering guiding the participants on the importance of sports its diversified skills that imparts to achieve greater heights. His inspirational speech molested the young students to overcome challenges and utilize the potential to be the winner and bring glory to their Alma Mater.
This year 550 participants over Tamil Nadu participated in the tournament. They were welcomed by the Chief Guest and Rev. Brother Principal with a floral bouquet, as the SPL of Montftort Master Simrith introduced the teams to the Chief Guest. Towels were distributed to the students of each school. After which the tournament was inaugurated by a symbolic gesture of handing over the gadgets of the Tennis, Table Tennis and Basketball to the captains of each team by the Chief Guest and he enthused the spirit of sportsmanship in all the participants. The first match to be played, their team and court fields were announced.
The inaugural ceremony came to an end with the National Anthem.
The concluding ceremony of the Montfort Tournament was conducted by the Montfort guides on 17th August 2019 they started with a prayer followed by a prayer song.
The chief guest of the day was Mr. C. V. Sunny Former Indian Captain of the Indian Senior Men’s Basketball Team Founder and Head coach of C.V Sunny’s Basketball Academy Chennai, Former Head Coach of the Indian Senior Men’s Basketball Team and Manager of Indian Bank Chennai.
Miss Riya Shibu welcomed the gathering and Rev. Bro. Principal the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest was honoured with a slash a memento and a floral bouquet. Entertainment dance was given by guide’s girls.
Followed by dance the highlight of the tournament was shared by Mast. Simrith (SPL). A speech was given by Miss. Anjali and Iniya about sportsmanship.
Followed by speech the most awaited hour was the prize distribution honouring the heroes of the year Montfort Tournaments – Football and Tennis winners were rewarded with a certificate each, cash awards and a trophy.
The Chief Guest thanked the school management for giving him this opportunity. He said Montfort brothers always give importance for both sports and academics equally. The students who are studying in Montfort school are very lucky and he wished every one. The Principal in his speech said this event was a very important day for him because this was his first experience. He said for Montfort boys it is an opportunity to know how other school boys are playing and he also thanked everyone present there. Totally 63 schools participated the tournament flag was lowered. The school team captains of the four disciplines marched solemnly and handed over the flag to Rev. Bro. Principal. The vote of thanks was given by Miss. Shiyamala. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
