Rules and Regulations

General rules for Students
“Discipline and Virtue” are the hallmark of every Montfortian. We expect that the students entrusted to our care, will conduct themselves to the satisfaction of all concerned, and leave the school as God-Fearing young men. Students at all times should show respect and deference to the school authorities and to the members of the staff. The students’ behaviour is gentlemanly at all times and in all places, both inside and outside the school campus.

Montfort students are always punctual and they keep the classrooms, study halls and school premises clean. They take care of school property. Coming late to school/class is considered a serious offence.

Damage done to the buildings, furniture, library books, sports goods etc., must be compensated. The school authorities reserve the right to take appropriate disciplinary action including dismissal, against any student whose conduct is detrimental to the moral tone, discipline and educative atmosphere of the school.

Students desirous of participating in any co-curricular or extra-curricular activities outside the school shall produce a letter from the parent/guardian, requesting permission. He may participate in such events only with explicit permission of the Principal. Students are not permitted to leave the school campus without the permission of the Principal.

Smoking, intake of alcohol, chewing Paan Parag and Betel Nut within or outside the school is prohibited. Periodicals and books of low moral standards are not permitted inside the school. Organizing or attending meetings in the school campus or collection of funds without the written permission of the Principal is forbidden. Students are not allowed to possess or use cell phones in the school campus.

Students are not advised to bring valuables such as gold chains, cameras, tape recorders, costly watches or any electronic gadgets. The school will not be responsible for the loss of such belongings. Every student must bring the Hand Book to class and keep it neat and secure. It contains detailed information regarding the teaching-learning experiences in the school. Parents may purchase one copy of the Handbook every year at the start of the Academic year.

Parents who would like to meet the Principal or the teachers may do so before you take your children out from the school even if it causes a little delay. Parents are advised not to take the other students out along with your son / daughter or keep them with you in hotels and lodges. Parents are not allowed to use cell phones, cigarettes and chewing paan inside the school campus. They are requested to deposit these items at the security point and collect the same while leaving the school.

Travel arrangement and Tickets : The school will make arrangements for travels and booking of tickets only for Quarterly, Half Yearly and Annual vacations only for NRIs and Foreigners on request from parents at an early date. On a special request by the parent, the school authority can take responsibility of escorting and boarding your child at the airport/railway station. Since the school handbook indicates the major holidays you are requested to write to us well in advance for the required tickets.
Cash Coupons
Students will not be permitted to possess money in terms of currencies or coins. Coupons equivalent to the amount specified in the boarder form will be issued instead of currencies and the same may used in the canteen and at the telephone booth. Students may require money in terms of currencies only for the annual ‘Fancy Fete’ and hence money brought for this purpose by the students and parents are to be deposited with the Treasurer only.
Leave, Absence and Attendance
Any leave is to be taken only with the permission of the Principal, through a duly authorized letter from the parent. If leave is availed due to illness, information should reach the school authorities within 2 days. When the students return to school after recovery, he must produce the medical certificate and a brief report of the medical treatment received. Unauthorized absence from the boarding and the class is not permitted.

99%  of attendance is compulsory for all the students. Without these criteria, promotion will not be considered. Students of Std.X and XII, who are falling short of 95% attendance, will not be permitted to take the Public Examination nor will they be awarded a “satisfactory” conduct certificate.

Students are requested to use their terminal holidays for tours, pilgrimages and prolonged religious functions. Students are permitted to take leave only for the family programmes related to their father, mother, siblings and grandparents. Students will not be permitted to leave the hostel to attend weddings, anniversaries and other programmes associated with their relatives, friends or neighbours.

Admissions
Normally, admissions are open for Std.III and XI. However those who wish to admit their children in other classes i.e. 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 may also apply for the same. Boys to Stds.III to IX & XI and for girl students only for Stds.III to VIII and Std.XI. Montfort being a residential school, the students are expected to stay in the school hostel only. The practice of parents renting houses in Yercaud and sending their children as day-scholars is not permitted.

Days

Khaki long sleeved shirt, khaki trousers(long), belt(black), school tie, black shoes and black socks.
Wednesday
Coloured long sleeved shirt and trousers(long), Coloured tie, black shoes and black socks.
Saturday and on special occasions
White long sleeved shirt, grey flannel trousers(long), navy blue blazer, belt(black), school tie, black shoes and black socks.
Sunday
White long sleeved shirt, white trousers(long), canvas shoes and black socks.
Games session
Navy blue shorts, House T-Shirts, Canvas shoes and black socks.
P.Ed.Class
House T-Shirts, khaki trousers(long) and canvas shoes.
Uniform for Girls
Juniors ( Stds.III to VII )
Monday to Friday
Pinafore and blouse, School tie, Black shoes and black socks.
Saturday and on Special occasions
White long sleeved blouse, grey flannel pleated skirt(knee length), school tie, navy blue blazer, black shoes and black socks.
Sunday
White skirt, white long sleeved blouse, school pullover, white canvas shoes and white socks.
Games session
House T-shirts, navy blue track pant, canvas shoes and black socks.
P.Ed Class
The usual uniform used from Monday to Friday.
Hair-do
Short hair – to be kept tidy with a black hair band. Long hair – to be Plaited and fastened with a black band.
Seniors ( Stds.XI & XII )
Monday to Friday
Light blue salwar and kameez, Navy blue waist coat, Black shoes and black socks.
Saturday and on Special occasions
White long sleeved blouse, long grey flannel pleated skirt, school tie, navy blue blazer, black shoes and black socks.
Sunday
White salwar and kameez, navy blue waist coat, canvas shoes and white socks.
Games session
House T-shirts, navy blue track pant, canvas shoes and black socks.
P.Ed. Class
The usual uniform used from Monday to Friday.
Hair-do
Short hair – to be kept tidy with a black hair band. Long hair – to be Plaited and fastened with a black band.

Guidelines regarding Uniform
1. For boys, shirts must be worn tucked in, therefore, care should be taken when stitching the shirts.
2. The uniform for boys and girls shall be of plain cloth without design or decorative stitching.
3. Jeans, T-shirts, pyjamas and kurthas do not constitute the school uniform.
4. Students belonging to the various religions cannot adopt the customs of their religion and formalities in the school uniform.
5. Students must cultivate the habit of wearing neat and clean uniform, with short and smart hair cut(boys), neatly combed hair(girls), and keeping teeth, finger nails and hands clean. The text and note books are to be well maintained. Proper use of toilet and disposal of waste in the assigned place should be adhered to by all the students.
6. Exemption of uniform can be made only with the permission of the Principal / Warden and entry to be made in the Handbook.
